Stringent guidelines from the NHS are primarily responsible for limiting prescriptions mainly to patients experiencing severe epilepsy (spasticity related to multiple sclerosis), and nausea resulting from chemotherapy. A report from 2019 indicated that merely 18 prescriptions for cannabis-based products (which are unlicensed), were filled in England. It seems that changing the law is not a priority for the government in the near future.
